Maintenance Records from New

This classic 1983 Mercedes-Benz 380SL Convertible is in exceptional condition, well cared for since day 1. We have a portfolio full of service records and receipts dating back to new. This car has had its timing chain replacement and is complete with mechanical records dating to day one. We have the original owner's manual and service booklet, with dealer stamps for maintenance. The cosmetics are strong both inside and out. The original soft top is clean and detailed and the original auxiliary hardtop is also in excellent condition. This car has accumulated just under 100,000 miles and is ready for another 100,000 miles. These are great cars. This one performs beautifully.

The exterior showcases exceptional sheet metal and paint throughout. The original blue finish displays one exterior repaint, in very good to excellent condition. This car has a clean Car Fax. It was purchased new in Louisiana and has been here in Texas the majority of its life, since the 1980s. The ever-popular 380SL Mercedes-Benz was produced from 1980 until 1986. This is a wonderful example of what these cars can be with proper care and garaged storage. The paint is beautiful. Again, this is a well kept example. The bright work shows well throughout the exterior. The auxiliary hardtop fastens securely into place and is paired with a padded hardtop stand, easily taken down and placed in the trunk.

The hardtop itself is in excellent condition, as is the headliner. The soft top is also clean and detailed, original to the car and seldom used. There is a seam separation on the passenger side, approximately 4 inches. The full tonneau cover is in excellent condition. Open the doors to luxury. The upholstery is original to this car and in very good condition throughout, showing minor wear, but intact. The color is a light tan. There is a trim piece missing on the driver's seat, photographed above. The dash is clean and detailed, displaying all original instrumentation including the Becker cassette stereo system, also functional. The air conditioning system will need to be professionally serviced, it is not working currently.

The wood grain is in good condition as well, the clearcoat wood displaying some minor cracking on the shifter plate. The door panels are original and in excellent condition. The power windows are also functional. We have the original owners manuals and convertible top tool, also the service manual. Under the hood is the original 3.8 litre all-aluminum V8 engine factory rated at 155 horsepower. This power plant is paired with the 4-speed automatic gearbox. The timing chain was replaced in 1994, per dealer service recommendation. Further inspection of the engine compartment confirm the original firewall insulation intact throughout along with the original sheet metal & paint throughout the firewall, inner fenders and core support. This engine runs out strong and the transmission shifts as it should. This Mercedes is an absolute pleasure to drive.

The undercarriage is indicative of a dry-climate Mercedes-Benz. The flooring and rockers are intact throughout. The engine, transmission and differential undersides are clean and detailed. The suspension looks to be in good condition front to back. This car has plenty of life left with continued proper maintenance and cosmetic care. The trim just below the doors is dinged up on both the driver and passenger sides. The under body is very solid throughout, all original flooring. As always, many of our photos of this R107 chassis Mercedes-Benz were taken at the Dallas Love Field Frontiers of Flight Museum, located only minutes from our showroom. Be sure to visit the Flight Museum if you find yourself in Dallas, Texas.

The wheels of choice are the original alloys, fitted with later Michelin all-season tires sized at 205/70R14s all around. The trunk is also clean and detailed, complete with the spare and jacking equipment. The original carpeting is clean and detailed as well. We have a padded & portable convertible top stand included. Drop the top and cruise. This is your opportunity to own an exceptional Mercedes-Benz. Enjoy our remaining photographs. View our 100% positive customer feedback and bid with 100% confidence.
