The exterior presents the original steel body throughout with driver-quality paint. The finish is old and faded, touched-up in areas, but presentable. The body is straight and true throughout. The paint is just fair at best. This has always been a light blue Land Cruiser. The wheels of choice are the stock steel 15-inch rims fitted with 31 x 10.5R15LT Chaparral Radial XT's all around.  The rear-mounted spare tire & wheel rides atop the custom steel rear bumper. There is diamond plate around lower body areas throughout and some minor rust.

The front bumper is also custom, featuring a towing rig. Open the doors to a spartan and functional interior. The seating is not original, cloth buckets fitted in this FJ40 for comfort. The dash features the original gauge cluster along with an older aftermarket trio of gauges. The glove box door displays the original shift instructions. Under the hood is the stock & durable carburetor-equipped inline-6. This engine runs out strong, paired with the stock 4-speed manual tranny. Further inspection of the engine compartment will confirm original sheetmetal throughout the firewall, inner fenders and core support.

The undercarriage is very solid and original. The flooring, framework and bracing is original throughout. The differentials and transfer case is in good condition. The rear driveshaft has been recently replaced. There is only an isolated area of rust underneath that we could find, shown above, on the left rear floor pan, silver dollar sized crusty area.
