Texas Classic Cars of Dallas is proud to present this very rare & perennial favorite American Muscle Car, the 1969 BOSS 302 Mustang. This car was sold new at Dar Quinn Ford in Brawley, California.

This BOSS showcases a good solid dry climate body finished in bright Calypso Coral. Out of the 1,628 Boss 302 Mustangs produced in 1969, only 410 were ordered in Calypso Coral. The mechanicals have been attended to extensive with over $20,000 spent in recent rebuilds of the engine, transmission, suspension, along with necessary maintenance as needed to date. Approximately 500 miles have been logged since the drive train rebuild. The odometer mileage of 94,534 is believed original to this car according to the long time owner. We certainly don't doubt this. This is your opportunity to own a true collectible.

The aggressive stance leaves little doubt to the Trans Am racing appeal Ford's Boss Mustang brought to the scene on its 1969 introduction. You could order the BOSS in one of four colors, Wimbleton White, Acapulco Blue, Bright Yellow, and this eye-popping Calypso Coral.

BOSS is one word used to describe the BOSS Mustang's appearance. The blacked-out hood, tail light panels, rear deck, and headlight buckets are BOSS-exclusive features. The "new" for 1969 Ford Mustang truly is "BOSS ", man! The gifted design legend Mr. Larry Shinoda is responsible the name and the BOSS styling of Ford's answer to the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.

We have the Marti-Report documenting this particular Boss Mustang and the original dealer's invoice. 

Under the hood is the professionally rebuilt BOSS 302 V8 engine. This solid-lifter power plant was factory rated at 290 horsepower, which was conservative to say the least. Race versions are known to make in excess of 450 horsepower at 8,000 rpm. This example features the solid-lifter valve train and famous BOSS cylinder heads. These heads are in essence Ford's 351C with work done. ARP head bolts are used to hold down these massive heads.  This example was also fitted with roller rocker arms during the rebuild. We also have the original stamped steel Boss rockers. During the rebuild, the heads were fitted with new valves and hardened seats to use today's fuel. We have receipts for much of the work performed, in excess of $20,000. I want to mention that this car was built with reliability in mind. The cooling system has been gone through as well and heater core replaced. The BOSS Mustang came standard with a special cooling package.

Ford's little 302 in Boss version would certainly get it done, having powered LeMan's winning cars in '68 and '69! I want to note that we also have the original breather to this car, also included. Further inspection will confirm solid original sheet metal throughout the inner fenders, core support, and firewall. The old Autolite rev limiter box is long gone.

Induction duties are handled by the correct Holley 780 double pumper 4bbl carburetor, recently rebuilt and atop the correct aluminum high performance intake - C9ZE9424-E. The cylinder head casting reads DOZE-6090-A (driver's side). The rocker arms have been replaced with high performance roller tip, the original stamped steel rockers are included.  The front chin spoiler is standard equipment on Ford's BOSS Mustang for '69. This is the original spoiler to this car.

The rear spoiler and slats are also original Marti-Report documented pieces to this Mustang. As always, we would like to thank the Dallas Love Field Frontiers of Flight Museum for allowing us to take many of our photos at their great museum. The original identification plate is also in place as is the VIN plate. This details the car as a Calypso Coral Boss 4V 302 with optional 3.91 gear ratio and traction-loc differential. It had a build date of June 30th, 1969 and was bound for Los Angeles, California. Although the BOSS interiors was available in a variety of colors, most often ordered was standard black. The front seats are newly recovered, but are not the original to the car.

The original gauges are functional except the tachometer. The dash is also original and in good condition with exception of two cracks in the center speaker grille. The 94,534 miles are believed original to the car. The knit vinyl upholstery is in excellent condition front to back as is the headliner. This car is also optioned with shoulder belts and remote operated driver's mirror.

The HURST 4-speed shifter is a BOSS feature and is paired with the original top-loader 4-speed manual transmission. The transmission itself was rebuilt along with the motor. The synchros were replaced. The exaggerated C-stripes & BOSS 302 lettering was inspired by the 24 Hours of Le Mans winning Ford MK IV racecar.

Although based off the Sportsroof Mustang, the simulated side scoops and running horses were eliminated on the BOSS model.

Further inspection of the exterior will show the body and paint to be in good condition. This is not a concours car, the paint is an older paint job that presents well. There are several imperfections on close inspection, the car could also use a professional polish, wax, and seal. The chrome and brightwork shows great front to back as does the glass and rubber seals. The door seals are intact and appear to be original. There are a few shallow dings photographed, notably one on the driver's door quarter sized, and two or three shallow dings on the passenger rear quarter panel, close to the door, just behind the upper Boss stripe. Argent-Silver painted Magnum 500 wheels were standard on the BOSS, with these chromed Magnums as options. The tires were recently replaced with B.F. Goodrich Radial T/As sized at 235/60R15 all around. The factory-optioned original rear spoiler is adjustable.

This original undercarriage displays very solid original floorboards & frame rails, all in exceptional condition. it is obvious this is a dry climate Mustang. Our facilities are in the process of replacing all of the rubber floor pan plugs. The door undersides are very solid original metal.

The trunk is in excellent condition, complete with the correct mat and space saver spare tire. We also have a complete set of factory service manuals for the 1969 Mustang included.
