This would be the final year of this 2-year body style. The '67-8 Mustang fastbacks were roomy and displayed a more muscular body than the 1st generation Fastbacks. These cars bring visions of Steve McQueen in Bullitt & get names like "Eleanor" from their admiring audiences. The Dallas Love Field Frontiers of Flight Museum is the fitting location for many of our photos of this customized 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback. Be sure to visit the historic Flight Museum if you find yourself in Dallas, Texas. The exterior showcases quality paint and body in a special Emerald Green base/clear coat with Gold Shelby-Style stripes & fog lamps. The fog light were just installed with a brand new wiring harness and pull switch.
The Shelby-Style hood really adds to this Mustang's demeanor. The wheels of choice are vintage-style Torque Thrusts, fitted with B.F. Goodrich Radial T/As on al corners. This is a Bullitt style wheel that fits this Mustang perfectly in both look and function. Under the hood is the previously rebuilt 302 4bbl. V8. This power plant is paired with an updated Tremec 5-Speed Manual Transmission. It is also fitted with flat tops, double roller timing cahin, Melling oil pump, Comp Cam, Edlebrock F4B intake, and ARP bolts.
The engine runs strong and has been fitted with extras such as finned aluminum valve covers, an aluminum intake and 4bbl. carburetor. Spent gases are expelled in a hurry though custom headers & true dual pipes/mufflers. Further inspection of the engine compartment reveal original sheet metal throughout the firewall, inner fenders, and core support. This car is equipped with updated air conditioning and power steering. The brakes are manual-operated front discs.
Open the doors to performance, Mustang-style. We have the original door tag. This is an original Dallas, Texas DSO ordered Mustang that was finished in Seafoam green interestingly. It was ordered with the C4 automatic transmission, and 2.79:1 rear axle ratio. (63A / 0 / 2A / 22M / 61 / 2 / 1 - Warranty Number (ID) 8R02C118818 This interior is in excellent condition. The seat upholstery has been replaced and shows excellent front to back. The carpet shows some sun fading.
The dash is clean and detailed, the dash pad shows well. The factory gauges are in excellent condition. An AM/FM CD JVC stereo has also been installed. This is one of those CD players with a handle you can pull out and take with you... The Tremec 5 speed transmission is pared with a center force dual friction clutch, 11" flywheel and Lakewood Scatter Shield. The driveshaft was also replaced. The trunk is clean and detailed, refinished in the correct finish.
The undercarriage is in great shape. The front end has been previously rebuilt and the exhaust system replaced. The frame rails are straight and solid. The flooring is intact throughout. This is one of the better vintage Mustang undercarriages you will find. The exhaust features an "H-Pipe" while the transmission is fitted with a blow-proof safety bellhousing. The mufflers are by Flowmaster. The rear end is of course a 9" Ford with 3:55 gears and Shelby ladder bars. Some other newer additions to the Mustang are a new gas tank, windshield and weather stripping, added over the last few years.
