Texas Classic Cars of Dallas is proud to showcase this rare 1965 Ford Falcon Sprint two door hardtop. There were only 2,806 of the 1965 Falcon Sprint hardtops built along with a scant 300 convertible versions. The optional "Sprint" package included a 200 horsepower 289 V8 dubbed "Challenger V8" along with special Sprint fender emblems and bucket seating. Convertible "Sprint" Falcons received a center console as standard equipment while the console was optional on hardtop "Sprint" models. This example displays beautiful and correct medium gray metallic base/clearcoat paint along with OEM correct interior & the powerful 289 V8 with performance enhancements that include a Holley 4bbl. carburetor, mild cam, and aluminum intake manifold
These custom 15-inch Magnum 500 chromed wheels are wearing classic raised white letter radials (Cooper Cobra 215/65R15s) all around with spinner caps. The factory identification plate is intact and legible. 63D = Falcon Sprint / K = Medium Gray Metallic Paint / 85 = Red Vinyl Interior / 06K - October 6th Build / 53= Kansas City Plant / 6= Axle 2.80:1 Gearing / 6= C4 Dual Range Automatic. The factory brightwork is distinctive and in great shape throughout, along with the chromed bumpers. Much of the restoration work to this car was done in 2008 and 2009. The engine received a fresh valve job in 2008 and the paint work was redone in 2009, according to the previous owner.
Open the doors to 1965. The hood, trunk lid, and doors open and close correctly. The heart of the "Sprint" Package was the "C" Code V8 engine that Ford marketed in the Falcon as the "Challenger V8". This is a strong running engine, paired with the C4 3-speed automatic transmission. This powerplant is further modified with the addition of a mild cam, aluminum Edelbrock intake and a Holley 4bbl. carburetor. The dual cast iron manifolds breathe through a true dual exhaust with glass pack mufflers (sounds excellent). The engine bay itself is in very good condition. Factory accessories include power steering and air conditioning. The interior features restored upholstery front to back along with underdash air conditioning, a tachometer, Grant GT wheel, and aftermarket center console.
The bucket seating is in excellent condition. The upholstery shows well front to back. The dash displays beautiful vintage factory brightwork throughout. There is also a removable face AM/FM CD stereo. The door panels are in good condition but are pretty wavy, not perfect by any means, especially the passenger door panel. The door weatherstrip has been replaced. The paint has a great shine to it throughout. There are only minor imperfections in the paint. The trunk is clean and detailed, complete with a spare tire/wheel & jack. The door undersides are solid. The engine underside is clean. The suspension has had work performed. The sway bar bushings have been replaced with polyurethane bushings and other bushings replaced.
The H-Pipe dual exhaust system sounds excellent and features glass pack mufflers. The Ford rear end houses 2.80:1 gearing. The flooring and frame rails show well front to back. The inner fender VIN stamping is clear and legible (drivers side).
